Highlight of the trip. I know many say Hong Kong is easy to get around and I agree, but I have always found getting a tour from a "local" gives you an insight to a city you cannot get from a guidebook or a large group tour. A private tour also gives you flexibility with kids. Jim met us at our hotel, we caught the star ferry to Hong Kong Island and then walked the streets to get a feel for the city. We ate Yum Cha at a restaurant frequented by locals. Delicious. We asked Jim to join us and paid for the meal. We used public transport as I requested and caught the ferry, metro, double decker tram and bus. Again using public transport gives you a feel for a city. Jim had Octopus cards and we just paid the extra for fares to him — very cheap. We also went to Kowloon (fish markets, bird market and flower market). Great experience highly recommend. Testimonials

My wife and I just returned from our trip to Hong Kong and I wanted to provide feedback on the tours that were guided by Jim. We have experienced guides from tours throughout Europe and Japan and I am pleased to tell you that Jim is in a class by himself. His in-depth knowledge of the history, culture and points of interest are eclipsed only by his genuine enthusiasm for satisfying the interests of his clients. He is a consumate professional. Our entire party, which included both a chairman and a CEO of a global NYSE company, are in complete agreement with this assessment. I will follow-up with AMEX concierge service to ensure they are also aware of how pleased we are with the quality of your organization.

I just arrived home today and this is the first opportunity I have had to write you a note about Jim. We spent September 20th with him on a private walking tour. He was absolutely outstanding, and I highly recommend his service. His personality combined with his thorough knowledge of Hong Kong was a wonderful introduction to our 18 day trip. As a travel agent, with 30 years in the business, it is always a pleasure to come in contact with wonderful guides.

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to your organisation and especially to Jim for his services over the three days we spent in Hong Kong. We had never been to Hong Kong and because we had only 4 days to see this magnificent city, we had purposely called upon your services to show us the sights without having to worry about what to include and what to leave out, accessing public transport, where to eat etc, etc. Jim was able to tailor each day to suit our needs without exposing us to the commercialism we would have expected on the “bus tour” model of tourism. The highlights of the first day (Hong Kong Island) for us, were the little hidden gems that we would have missed or not even been aware of such as the parks, the SARS Memorial, the trees growing out of walls, Cat Street, the only remaining colonial architecture and of course the Peak Tram. Day two (Kowloon) we were able to see the day-to-day activities of the locals in the back streets, at the flower market and the bird market, searching for cufflinks in the Jade Market, the sounds and the smells and the hustlers on Nathan Road. On Day Three Jim took us to the island of Cheung Chau, a 50 minute ferry ride away, where we left behind the noise and hustle/bustle to the relative tranquility of the fishing village and the walks up to the Christian cemetery and the lookout back across the island. We didn’t mind the rain as we had remembered our umbrellas. The highlight of the day was lunch at a restaurant on the main street and tasting Tsing Tao beer and having the tastiest seafood, all for very little cost. Without Jim’s knowledge and guidance we would never have been able to experience all that we did in such a short time – Thank you Jim.

Chris, first I want to let you know that Jim is one of the nicest and knowledgeable guides we have had the experience to have guide us. He handled all of our requests and added a dimension to our tour that only comes from a guide who truly loves this city and sharing his experiences and knowledge with us.

I just wanted to drop you a quick note to tell you what a wonderful day we had touring Hong Kong with Jim. He was everything a tour guide should be, knowledgeable, affable, focused yet flexible, accommodating but directed and able to speak with a strong clear voice without ever sounding dry or mechanical. When I return to Hong Kong I will most certainly want to employ him again and I know the other 5 in the group also found him to be professional, friendly and very happy with the day that was spent with him.

We have returned home following our China trip. I wanted to send a note thanking you for setting up our walking tour on May 17 with Jim. He was excellent. The tour covered the history and culture of Hong Kong very well. We asked lots of questions, all of which Jim answered expertly. Beyond thorough knowledge, Jim was exceptional in that he offered insights of a long term expat. It was a most enjoyable experience as well as a very educational one. I would strongly recommend Jim as a most insightful guide for anyone interested in a wide variety of historic, cultural, and economic topics.
