Watersports could be another option

Maybe everybody focusing on the beautiful hiking trails in Hong Kong.

Yet, we locals would definitely prefer to stay on the beach for a lovely afternoon. Here, we are not talking about the famous Repulse Bay but a hidden watersports centre further away. Big Wave Bay is always on my top agenda which is just 20 minutes by minibus on the Eastern Side of the Hong Kong Island.

Simply get off from the Shaukeiwan MTR station, nearby there is a covered area full of yellow minibus and the driver will be calling "Big Wave Bay" in English. It costs you just US$1.5 to US$2 for a 20minute ride to his small bay. Of course, you can drop off to the nearby Shek O where it is more suitable for swimming.

We will always rent a board for wave surfing but we tried to do standup board recently against this "Big Wave". For those who may not prefer to have watersports, taking some local milk tea, toast, fried noodles at the open stall would be a great experience to mingle with the operators and the locals around.

Have fun in Hong Kong!
